Why the lawn turns brown during a drought.

During prolonged dry spells lawns can turn brown. This is the lawn going into a semi dormancy state to protect itself. Most residential lawns are made up of cool season grasses, such as bluegrass, fescue and rye. In an established lawn the roots should still be alive, ready to produce new leaves when it rains.
